NIC & KAT BOUTIQUE - 3 WAYS TO HAVE FUN AGAIN WHEN SHOPPING

Have you ever feel like shopping isn't fun anymore?!? Between finding the time, the parking, the funds, or the friend to join you (for the MUST NEEDED opinion)....sometimes it feels like shopping has become just another stressor!!!

Here's the good news, it doesn't have to be!!!! I started Nic & Kat Boutique because I was tired of having such a hard time shopping!!! It was hard for me to have fun because if I loved it, I couldn't afford it....if I thought it was a great price, I often only got one wear out of it, or the outfit didn't fit, and the worse one...the store didn't have what I wanted!!!!

So, here's what we at Nic & Kat Boutique did...

1) Created a FUN environment

Wondering how can YOU do this? Well, at Nic & Kat we have done it a few ways...the first is allowing YOU our "models" to host parties....whenever, however, and with whoever you want! Learn more by clicking HERE

2) We Took CONTROL back

NIC & KAT BOUTIQUE STYLIST APPT

By allowing ourselves more options over the years (large department stores, online-only boutiques, and basic overconsumption) shopping has become less and less personalized. We have lost the intimacy that once fired the shopping experience. At Nic & Kat we have refueled the fire by offering personalized style appointments! We took back control by creating a relationship with YOU that starts with us studying your unique style, shape, and fashion goals. We pick outfits based on all of that as well as your budget! There is nothing better than walking out of a situation feeling in control...you're welcome! ;) lol

3) We BELIEVED in ourselves

Our owner has a unique story....one that has required her to be self-sufficient since she was seventeen and to believe in herself above all else. She has had the unique opportunity to experience self-reliance and self-discovery at the same time...so, what does that mean to YOU? Well, it's the most simple and complex thing you will ever hear...but here it goes...it means that every single item we carry we BELIEVE is empowering...it means that every concept we embrace is because we BELIEVE it will create something magical...it means that we work hard to create a brand and a connection that we develop BELIEF in one's self....it means that we see true success in something as simple as a smile and something as complex as business....it means that we are only US when we have YOU....so, BELIEVE in Nic & Kat....what it can do for you and what your involvement in it can do for others!

Until Next time,

Nic

HOW TO BE A FASHION CHAMELEON

Our wardrobe is the most versatile possession we own....it's a glimpse into our personality, an extension of who we are, and creates the unspoken impression to the World around us.

So, what are the staples we need in our closet to change a look from conservative to sexy....from girls night out to work appropriate or from date night to Sunday brunch with the inlaws?!? Well keep reading....

1) Solid black or blue colored skirt that hits no higher than 2' above the knee and no longer than 2' below the knee.

2) Solid blue, black, or white colored loose fit blazer

3) Solid or print top v-neck top

Watch the transition below as I take a outfit worn to work to an outfit worn to cocktails with friends to an outfit that would knock a date's socks off!

In this photo she is just leaving work....

This look can create a perfect transition from work to after drink cocktails by rolling the inner band in once, pulling it to the smallest section of your waist, and removing the blazer...like this:

To take it one step further and be date night sexy....turn the skirt so the slit is in the front, put on your blazer and tie it in the front...and if you are having a good hair day.....take out the updo :)

Like this...

Fashion is fun because we can make slight changes to create a totally different feel...it is just knowing the tricks...

From desk clerk to diva....we have got you covered...shop this look here: www.nicandkat.com

Dress like no one is watching!!!

Hi! It has been awhile.....haven't had anything on my mind to write about honestly, but last night while doing laundry I couldn't help but think about all the clothes I am lucky enough to own.....I recently went thru a forced clothing purge that left me with only a few staples....at first this made me worried....I mean not to brag but I had a huge closet filled with beautiful clothes, purses, and shoes.....the kind of closet you smiled at when you walked in.....but in an effort to keep a smile on my face everyday this closet and the clothes within it had to be left behind....which brings me to current day.

When I first started replenishing my wardrobe I told myself "this time around be simple" In my head simple was more jeans and t-shirts and less dresses, pantsuits, and silk. For the first month I did pretty well I bought clothes that made me "fit in" more.....I bought clothes that made me feel the "hipster" kinda trendy which in my head it was lace up black boots from H&M....lol

To tell ya the truth, getting dresses became much easier....less options gave me less choices which in return made me get out the door faster and not have five outfits to hang up when I got home! But then NYE came around.....and I was ready to really stand out! I purchased a couple of dresses online and when they arrived I did a fashion show for my friends...who were as displeased as I was in them....and I thought to myself.....if only I had my old closet back! That thought had crept into my mind a time or two before but nothing like it did in that moment...For the first time I realized my "dressing down" was me masking myself to better "fit in" with what I thought everyone wanted....

The reality is that I didn't change back to the "old me" right away....but how can I sell myself, my brand, and my vision without dressing myself in what makes me happiest. So, about a month ago I went out and splurged on my favorite pants of all time....they are from Alice and Olivia and they are high-waist silk masterpieces! Every time I wear them I feel beautiful....I bought a couple other things too...then a couple weeks ago I bought this amazing Robert Graham dress....and before I knew it...my closet was making me smile again....it isn't as big, there are not as many options....but everything in it is a reflection of me and somehow shows the World a little bit of who I am...

I look forward to my shop opening in late April....it too is a reflection of me....something I hope ya'll like....cause if not....I'll be broke! lol JK...maybe

Champagne Looks on a Beer Budget

There are so many options when it comes to buying an outfit....and nothing makes me more crazy then finding something I love and not being able to afford it....having it go on sale once I have splurged....or the worst, finding it somewhere else cheaper! While it sucks to have any of the above scenarios happen to you the best closets have a little mix of champagne and beer that evens out to a nice Cab Blend....you know the ones on the top shelf at Walgreens...so how does one accomplish that??

I don't want to be the only place my customers shop...Nic & Kat will do our best to provide clothing that will last as long as the style does... at a price that is right around that Walgreens top shelf wine range.....we won't be Forever 21....we won't be Alice & Olivia....we will be that somewhere in between that feels good when you buy it because you know you are going to feel amazing in it and still be able to afford to go some place in it!

How will we do it? By  seeking out the best quality, style, and price points.....we travel to over 4 live shows per year, go to Fashion Week to see up and coming trends, .and have several international vendors...we buy clothing and accessories that we are proud to attach our name to....and items that will boost your confidence without breaking your wallet!

I'm not a beer drinking girl...but I never say never and will try anything twice....so, should the day come where beer is the only thing in my budget.....you can bet that I will find a way to look damn good drinking it!

Keep his attention...in your clothes!

Keep his attention...in your clothes

It's not exactly easy being single these days...and dressing to be just the right amount of class and trash is hard! If we are honest we all love to feel sexy at times....and how we feel that way is dependant on what we have defined it in  our own mind and is based on what we have seen projected by society....that being said feeling sexy and confident in your clothes doesn't always mean you attract the man you want.

For years I dressed too sexy....In my mind that is what I felt I was prettiest in...or maybe better said what I felt made me most attractive to men...and to tell the truth I had a ton of men attracted to me....but none I wanted to undress for or be in a long term relationship with...my clothing didn't represent me...it represented what I thought the World wanted from me...then one day I without realizing it starting dressing more reflective to who I am...a little bit sexy, a little conservative, and alot of trouble! lol - while my personality didn't change my pool of prospects did dramatically....all of a sudden I was attracting men I could see as a potential life partner instead of men that I felt I needed to convince myself having them as a life partner was okay. The reality is that I was probably growing up a bit too....and with growing up comes less skin tight mini skirts and more A-line dresses...

Starting Nic & Kat has really made me focus in on my fashion choices over the years.....why I made them, who influenced them, how they have changed, and so on....and I can honestly say I am most comfortable and most happy in my current fashion choices....not only do I feel confident and comfortable....I feel respected by others and respect myself. Clothes don't define who we are but they do play a huge part in how the World defines us.....so keep your clothes on, take them off for the right guy (or girl) if ya want....and remember wear it like you stole it!

Get a girl that can do both! Style, Comfort, and the Art of Travel

Travel in style and in comfort....

What ever happened to "dressing up" to fly? Years ago women and men alike dressed to the 10's when flying....it was considered a luxury and a privilege and people would put on their "Sunday Best" just to plop their butt down in a seat. Nowadays when you walk through the airport you will be lucky to find more than 50% of the people in something other than pajamas....and while I am an advocate of comfort I do wish I had lived in a time where personal appearance was held to a higher standard and more folks wanted to make an effort.

I am a firm believer in comfort, my outfit choices might not always appear that way but shockingly I have secured a wardrobe that I find 90% comfortable, classy, and fashionable. So, my constant question is: Why hasn't everyone else? I want people to have pride in their appearance again....especially when traveling....sweat pants shouldn't be acceptable in my opinion...then again it's an opinion and well, we all have plenty of those! lol

I recently had an ideal....one that I am not at liberty to share just yet but one that I believe will be a game changer in the work-transitional fashion World and one that will help my fellow flyers experience comfort while exuding class....I look forward to sharing it with you guys and look forward to bringing you plenty of fashionable, affordable, and comfortable clothing options come April when Nic & Kat officially launches.

Go to my website www.nicandkat.com before April and sign up on our email list to receive a discount code and a special gift that only subscribes will receive when we officially launch!

Shit just got real...Fashion on the Move!

Today my vision for Nic & Kat became one step closer to a reality...as I signed the paperwork to purchase a vintage Airstream it almost felt surreal...I thought to myself...Shit!!! I am really doing this! It's funny how a tangible item can make us feel that way...I have spent countless hours and efforts searching for the right trade shows to attend, completing paperwork, educating myself on fabrics and fashion, becoming a legal business, trying to develop a perfect website and brand, and obviously $$$....but for some reason signing the paperwork today to make this bad boy below mine made it all seem so much more real...

Knowing all the work that is going to be put into the Airstream to make it the perfect host for my store reminded me of when the World saw me in a different light. The Airstream above is plain...and for years people saw me that way as well...and to be honest, I was either too naive to realize it or was okay the way I was that  I didn't even notice I was being treated differently... but then, one day someone showed me what a little "polish" could do...how dressing to fit my body, a little makeup, and something on my feet other than tennis shoes could create a change in how people treated and responded to me....and if I'm truthful, I liked it.

I'm not advocating that changing yourself is the right thing but I would be lying if I said once I was "polished up" that things didn't change for me...and before you say it... NO, its not fair...but it's life and while we don't have to fall into normalcy we do have to recognize our outward presentation is what creates and generates first opinions.

Okay, I'm off the soap box (maybe)...

I think I'm excited about renovating this old metal bullet  because I know that the picture above doesn't scream glamour, beauty, or class...but neither did I for years....until someone showed me how... and therein lies my hope for my store and for life...not to change people but to give them tools to present their awesomeness through fashion in a World that chooses to see the outside before seeing the inside...

I can not wait to document the transition of this beast turned beauty and share it with all of you! I hope in part you will be impressed enough to buy something once we are up and running :) lol... but I also hope that you will be inspired...to follow your own dreams, passions, and desires...no matter how big or small they may be! I am putting everything I have into this dream....both time and money...and my God it is scary...but I know that if I don't I will forever wonder "what if" and well I don't know about you but I'm not a girl who accepts "if's". :)

Till Next Time,
-N

PS: Note: If you see me on the road...I'm a rookie at pulling a trailer of any type so beware! lol :)
